Cold and Icy Conditions Expected in NRW - North Rhine-Westphalia braces for icy roads and snow this weekend

The German Weather Service (DWD) has warned of hazardous conditions in North Rhine-Westphalia this weekend. Snow and black ice are forecast for Sunday, with temperatures struggling to rise above freezing. Drivers and cyclists have been advised to take extra care on potentially icy roads.

Daytime temperatures on Sunday will reach a maximum of 4°C (39°F). Despite this slight rise, lingering cold in higher elevations will keep surfaces slippery. Snowfall is also expected, adding to the risk of black ice forming overnight.

The warning highlights the need for caution on roads across the region. While milder air arrives on Monday, elevated areas will stay hazardous. Authorities urge residents to prepare for changing conditions over the next 48 hours.
