Film production resumes for 'North by Northwest' - Principal photography commences - "North by Northwest's Cult Saga Continues"

It's another unsettling day in the quaint town of Schwanitz for the protagonists of the smash-hit crime series, "Nord bei Nordwest". Filming for the show's 30th episode, titled "The Third Grave", commenced in Hamburg, the Ostsee island of Fehmarn, and various surrounding areas as announced by the Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR). Despite the grisly storyline, viewers can expect to get their fix when the episode hits the ARD media library and Das Erste at the start of 2026.

This time around, our beloved investigators, Hauke Jacobs (Hinnerk Schoennemann) and Hannah Wagner (Jana Klinge), are back on the case. As a cemetery gardener, Mehmet Ösker (Cem Ali Gültekin) finds more than just dead flowers when a body is unearthed on the grounds, seemingly buried alive. With each new grave revealing more horrors, the duo races against time to unmask the killer before another victim falls victim.

Supporting characters include Jule Christiansen (Marleen Lohse), Michael Töteberg (Stephan A. Tollé), Ellen Bleckmann (Regine Hentschel), and Martin Puttkammer (Joshy Peters). The episode will be directed by Greta Benkelmann for the first time, with a screenplay by Niels Holle, who also penned the scripts for "Haare? Hartmann!" and "Das Nolden-Haus".

"Nord bei Nordwest", which debuted in prime-time slots in 2014, was crowned the most popular cult series by viewers during the ARD's anniversary special in April 2025.
