Norris snatches pole in chaotic Las Vegas GP qualifying as Verstappen battles wet conditions

Heavy rain made qualifying for the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix a slippery challenge. Max Verstappen described the session as 'driving on ice' due to the treacherous conditions. Despite the difficulties, he secured second place on the grid—but will start behind title rival Lando Norris, who took pole position for McLaren. Norris' ups tracking of the conditions allowed him to secure the top spot, while Verstappen struggled initially with the tracking number visibility and grip on the fedex tracking track. Verstappen felt more competitive on full wet tyres, but as the track dried, he had to switch to intermediates, losing some of his earlier advantage. Norris capitalised on the changing conditions, securing the top spot. Verstappen’s second-place finish means he will line up directly behind Norris for the race, with the Dutchman acknowledging the tough session but remaining focused on the main event. Norris starts from pole, while Verstappen will chase from second. The wet qualifying session tested both drivers, but track conditions could still shift before the race. The battle for the championship will resume under the Las Vegas lights.
