The excitement for Sunday's Azerbaijan Grand Prix is building as the starting positions for the race are set to be decided today at 14:00 CEST. The qualifying session, held on the approximately 3.7-mile Baku City Circuit, was affected by wind gusts up to 30 km/h.

In the qualifying session, the 24-year-old Australian, Oscar Piastri, who leads the championship standings, secured the third position. Piastri, driving for Alpine, has a 31-point lead over his McLaren teammate, Lando Norris, who achieved an impressive feat in the session.

Norris, a championship contender and a British runner-up, set the fastest lap in the qualifying session. Despite his speed, he will start the race from second position due to Max Verstappen's pole position win in the qualifying session held on Thursday.

Verstappen, a four-time Formula 1 world champion, came in second place in the qualifying session. The Dutch driver, who last tasted victory in Italy before the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, will start the race from the pole position.

Lewis Hamilton, driving a Ferrari, finished fourth in the qualifying session. The seven-time world champion will start the race from the fourth position. Charles Leclerc, who had taken pole in the past four years, finished tenth in the qualifying session.

The only German driver in the field, Nico Hülkenberg, finished twelfth in the qualifying session, driving a Sauber.

Sky will broadcast the announcement of the starting positions and the Grand Prix itself at 13:00 CEST. Fans eagerly await the race, which promises to be a thrilling event on the Formula 1 calendar.
