Düren's Festive Surprise: Two Fir Trees Stole on First Advent

The Christmas season got off to an unexpected start for the manager of a tree farm in Aldenhoven, North Rhine-Westphalia. Two unknown individuals decided to celebrate the season a little early by sawing down and stealing two Nordmann fir trees from the farm. According to the Düren police, the daring duo managed to slip into the property through a fence early Sunday morning and cut down the trees using a chainsaw.

Despite the thieves' lack of subtlety and apparent enjoyment of the occasion, they were able to make their getaway with the nearly two-meter-tall trees in tow. The Düren police spokesperson reported that their joyful antics did not go unnoticed, but the criminals were able to escape in a vehicle before the operator could react.

The police are now on the case, searching for any relevant information about the suspects, suspicious vehicles, or missing Christmas trees.

Unfortunately, the blatant Christmas theft in Bocholt wasn't the only incident causing concern. A group of around 15 teenagers, allegedly under the influence, decided to steal the baby Jesus figure from the nativity scene in the Bocholt Christmas market late on Friday evening.

Update on the Incident in Aldenhoven

The theft of the Nordmann firs has raised concerns about the escalation of thefts during the festive season in Düren. The police are urging anyone who witnessed the crime or has any information on the stolen trees to come forward, as the presents under the tree are not complete without the trees.

The incident serves as a stark reminder that even the joy of the holiday season is not immune to acts of criminality, with the precious Nordmann firs now joining the list of victimized holiday items.
