"Nordhorn's Bike Park receives official sanction"

The city of Nordhorn, Germany, has a new addition to its recreational facilities – the Bikepark Nordhorn. This large dirt park facility was initiated by an enthusiastic group of young BMX riders from various Nordhorn districts and has now officially opened its gates to the public.

The Bikepark Nordhorn, located next to the Rodelberg in the Gewerbe- und Industriepark GIP, is a unique space that caters to riders of all skill levels. The park is divided into three zones: the beginner-friendly Pumptrack, the advanced Table Line with its jumps, and the expert-level Dirt Line.

The construction of the Bikepark Nordhorn was made possible with an investment of approximately 160,000 euros. A significant portion of this funding came from the European Union (EU) and the federal government (Bund), covering 75 percent of the costs. The city of Nordhorn also received a grant of around 60,000 euros for the implementation of the project.

The project was developed in close cooperation with the city administration and expert companies. A meeting at the town hall in the fall of 2024 saw over 20 youth presenting their idea along with a sketch, which was met with approval by Mayor Thomas Berling. A planning workshop in December 2024, under expert guidance, further refined the plans.

The construction of the Bikepark Nordhorn began in August 2025 and was completed a few weeks later. The facility, which forms a combined course with various combination possibilities, has now undergone a planting action in cooperation with the BUND, with plans for the installation of slopes and seating in the coming weeks, including youth participation.

The Bikepark Nordhorn is open to the public and not tied to a specific sports club. However, certain behavioral rules must be followed. These include the use of protective gear, age restriction, and the prohibition of motorized vehicles.

The Bikepark Nordhorn is a testament to the power of community spirit and the city's commitment to providing diverse recreational opportunities for its residents. The park is set to become a popular destination for BMX enthusiasts and a source of pride for the city of Nordhorn.
