MTV Video Music Awards 2025: Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars Lead the Pack
The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) are set to return on September 7, 2025, with a star-studded lineup of nominees. This year, the awards ceremony will take place in New York and broadcast on CBS.
Leading the nominations is Lady Gaga with an impressive 12 nods, closely followed by Bruno Mars with 11 nominations. Kendrick Lamar trails behind with 10 nominations, while Sabrina Carpenter and BLACKPINK's ROSE each have 8 nominations. Ariana Grande and The Weeknd have 7 nominations each.
Lady Gaga's nominations span across several major categories, including Artist of the Year, Best Album, Best Collaboration, and best video-related categories for her work on Mayhem and collaborations with Bruno Mars. Bruno Mars also receives several nominations for his collaborations, including “Die with a Smile” with Gaga and “APT.” with Rose.
The Artist of the Year category includes Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Bad Bunny, and Morgan Wallen. The Video of the Year contenders include Bruno Mars/Gaga’s collaboration, Billie Eilish’s Birds of a Feather, Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us, Sabrina Carpenter’s Manchild, and others.
New categories have been added this year, including Best Country Video and Best Pop Artist. Nominees for Best Country Video include Chris Stapleton, while Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Tate McRae, and Sabrina Carpenter are among the nominees for Best Pop Artist.
Fans can vote online for their favorites in 19 categories. Last year, Taylor Swift won the most prizes, taking home seven trophies. The MTV Video Music Awards have been awarding trophies since 1984, featuring an astronaut holding an MTV flag as its iconic trophy design.
Other notable nominees include Charli XCX, Bad Bunny, Doechii, Jelly Roll, Ed Sheeran, Tate McRae, and Miley Cyrus. Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Rosé, Sabrina Carpenter, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Billie Eilish are among the other nominees at the MTV Video Music Awards.
