Moving Ahead Likely Minus RTL and Raab - No RTL and Raab likely to be absent next year.
In the world of Eurovision, excitement is brewing as Germany prepares for a significant change in its preliminary decision process. The Südwestrundfunk (SWR), a renowned German broadcaster, has taken over the responsibility from the Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) and will independently organise the national final for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2026.
This shift comes after Stefan Raab, the man behind Germany's ESC preliminary decisions for 2022 and the joint search for Germany's contribution for the ESC 2025 with RTL and ARD, stepped back from his role. Raab, aged 58, had made the ESC preliminary decision for 2022 his top priority.
Meanwhile, the search for Germany's representative for the ESC final in Basel, Switzerland, has come to a thrilling conclusion. Abor & Tynna, a dynamic duo, were chosen to represent Germany with their catchy tune 'Baller'. The band secured the 15th place in the final, marking a respectable showing for Germany in the Eurovision arena.
As the spotlight shifts towards the upcoming ESC preliminary decision, the organisation will be handled by SWR. The broadcaster is eager to make its mark and bring fresh energy to Germany's Eurovision journey. With the change in hands, fans and competitors alike are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest.
