In the heart of Berlin, a series of protests and counter-protests unfolded on a busy afternoon, with several gatherings taking place in the city centre.

The assembly "BECAUSE NEVER AGAIN IS NOW - every day - NO HATE AT THE MEMORIAL" started at around 2:00 PM at Ebertstraße, a busy intersection between Behrenstraße and Hannah-Arendt-Straße. The reported gathering, themed "Border controls, population protection, no Taurus delivery, freedom of speech, no more billions for Ukraine, stop dividing our society", took place near the Red City Hall.

Meanwhile, another counter-protest, themed "Que(e)r Spots against Right-wing Division - For Solidarity, Diversity, and Social Justice", started at Bebelplatz and ended at Potsdamer Platz, with around 100 people participating in the peaceful march. The counter-protest was themed around queer-feminist, anti-fascist, solidarity, human rights, housing, and social security.

The "Berlin remains colorful" march, which began at Dorothea-Schlegel-Platz with 140 participants, attempted to reach the rally at the Red City Hall at around 2:00 PM. However, law enforcement prevented this with pushing and shoving. As the day progressed, the number of participants in the "Berlin remains colorful" march grew to approximately 470 by around the same time.

Throughout the day, individuals attempted to join the procession at various barriers, which police prevented using force. A sit-in protest by several individuals at the intersection of Leipziger Straße and Kurstraße began around 3:20 PM with about 100 people.

Yesterday, around 500 police officers monitored several gatherings in the city centre. Seventeen criminal proceedings were initiated, including for using unconstitutional and terrorist organization symbols, resisting enforcement officers, assaulting enforcement officers, severe disturbance of the peace, dangerous bodily injury, insult, and property damage. Seven administrative offense proceedings were initiated for violating the assembly freedom law.

The rally at the assembly "BECAUSE NEVER AGAIN IS NOW" had a peak of ten participants, most of whom were associated with the far-right scene. Another group of about 50 people tried to access the assembly area of the other march at around 2:00 PM, which was also prevented by police using pushing and shoving.

Four police officers were injured during the assemblies but continued their duties. During the dispersal of some gatherings, police used force, including pushing, shoving, punches, and kicks. A total of 32 individuals (5 women and 27 men) were arrested during the assemblies.

In a separate incident, on March 1 in Berlin, a 50-year-old man was arrested in Charlottenburg on charges of trafficking cocaine and marijuana in kilogram quantities, with 13 violations of narcotics and cannabis laws. The arrest followed police raids in multiple Berlin districts and Brandenburg based on encrypted chat data from EncroChat.

The counter-protest ended at around 5:00 PM at Potsdamer Platz, marking the end of a day of contrasting views and tense encounters in the city centre.
