The Montreal Beneva Marathon, a much-anticipated annual event, is set to grow on an international scale, with the organising body, Marathon International de Montréal Événements (MIME), spearheading the initiative.

Founded in 2022, MIME was established with the goal of elevating the Montreal Marathon to an international level. The organisation works closely with the city of Montreal, local sponsors such as Beneva (Insurance Group), and the global running community.

Their objectives include boosting international participation, collaborating with global running associations, developing a strong "Beneva de Montréal" brand, and securing a place on international marathon calendars.

Over three days, a total of 32,500 runners will participate, with 19,000 running on Sunday. The Montreal Beneva Marathon is now considered the premier running event in the province. Alex Ratté, the general director of Courons MTL, has noted a significant difference between the fourth and previous editions of the marathon organised by Courons MTL.

The event, scheduled for the coming weekend in Maisonneuve Park, will see Saturday host the 1 km, 5 km, and 10 km races. Participation has increased by 20% compared to 2024. Sunday will host the half marathon and marathon.

Elite runners from around the world are expected to participate, making the Montreal Beneva Marathon a significant event on the international running calendar. Due to the UCI Road World Championships, runners and cyclists will have to wait until the weekend of October 9-11 for the next edition.
