No progress found in the investigation of teddy bear theft in Berlin.
Oh boy, the Internet's all aflutter over a heart-wrenching tale straight outta Berlin. A 45-year-old bloke from North Rhine-Westphalia, Marcus Erlenbauer, is on a mission to find his stolen teddy bear, the soppy little mite named Mini.
Marcus, the owner of a Bielefeld art gallery, met with a Lothario of an actress at a joint on Unter den Linden Street in Berlin on June 3rd. 'Twas in this moment of poor judgement that he and his partner left their valuables unguarded, inviting a pack of robbers to burst in and swipe Mini right 'neath their noses.
Mini, a diminutive 12-centimeter tall teddy bear, is Marcus's mojo – a cherished gift from his mum who met her untimely end thirty years ago. The loss of the wee critter has left him, well, shaken.
The Internet, ever eager for a sob story, has eaten up the news, with piles of comments overflowing their banks in sympathy for our hapless hero.
Let the hunt begin
A wide search for Mini kicked off in Berlin last week, with posters plastered across the city offering a 1,000 euro reward – catch and release is a definite no-no though, folks. The gallery's website also offers a hotline in multiple languages (English, Polish, Romanian, and Bulgarian) for those keen to lend a hand, and there's even a number you can call: 0176 630 57 301.
So far, only a singular soul has contacted Marcus with hopes of nabbing the reward. The mystery caller inquired as to the authenticity of the hefty sum, and pledged to go all Lassie in search of the baby bear... but only once.
With no substantial leads on the horizon, and time slipping through our fingers, we hope for the safe return of Mini and a dose of sweet resolution for Marcus. Keep your eyes peeled, folks – c'mon, he's only a teddy bear!
