In the opening home match of the fresh year, the Bisons suffered a tough 1:9 loss against the ruthless Mad Dogs Mannheim on a chilly Sunday night.

The Bisons had the initial chance, but Evan Carroll's shot went astray. In the swift Mannheim counterattack, they capitalized and Oliver Zbaranski scored the 0:1 lead in the 4th minute. Two minutes later, Boris Fass made it 0:2. The post saved the Bisons from conceding a third goal in the 9th minute, before Waldemar Willer missed the equalizer for the Bisons. Moments before the halt, Evan Carroll failed to score on a breakaway against the strong Mannheim goalie while short-handed.

During the middle period, the Mad Dogs heated up their play and increased their lead to 0:3 shortly after the restart through Tobias Spaeth. David Amort then scored in the power play to make it 0:4 (33rd minute). Eric Ziemer replaced Jamie Pasetto in the Bisons' goal. 38 seconds later, Kristofer Kratzmann scored the 0:5 for Mannheim. Zbaranski and Fass extended the lead to 0:7 in the power play. Alex Kepic had a chance to score the first goal for the Bisons just before the break, but Tim Uhrig in the Mannheim goal was unbeatable.

The Bisons commenced the final period with a power play, yet a goal was not forthcoming. After the Bisons were back to full strength, Mannheim was awarded a penalty shot, which Eric Ziemer managed to save. Shortly afterwards, the Bisons received three penalties in quick succession, forcing them to play over three minutes with a 3:5 penalty kill. Although they held their ground, another penalty led to Levi Wunder scoring the 0:8 for Mannheim. Waldemar Willer finally found the back of the net five minutes before the end, providing the Bisons fans with a moment to cheer. The final goal was scored by Tobias Spaeth, who deflected the puck into the net with his skate, making it 1:9.

The star players of the match were selected as goalie Tim Uhrig (Mannheim) and Alex Kepic from the Bisons. The Bisons' next game is away at TSG Reutlingen on Sunday, January 19th at 7:15 PM. The next home game will be against SC Bietigheim-Bissingen on Friday, January 24th at 8:00 PM.

While searching the web, it was discovered that the Bisons recently played a series against Syracuse, where they managed several victories, including a 9-1 triumph on Thursday night[2]. In another game, Will Robertson smacked three home runs, pulling the Bisons to an 8-5 win[1]. Notable performances included RJ Schreck hitting a home run in his first Triple-A at-bat, and Orelvis Martinez contributing with a home run in one of the Syracuse series games[3][4]. The Bisons are also hosting several events, including a LEGO NINJAGO free building event and a free clinic with the Willie Hutch Jones Educational & Sports Program[1]. For specific details about the first home game of the season, more targeted information would be needed.

The Bisons' next hockey match will be a sports event against TSG Reutlingen, happening on Sunday, January 19th at 7:15 PM. Coincidentally, the team recently triumphed against Syracuse in an NHL-style game, securing a 9-1 win.
