Nizhny Novgorod partners with Southeast Asia to boost tech and cybersecurity ties
Nizhny Novgorod has struck a deal to deepen ties with Southeast Asian nations through the Digital Economy and Cybersecurity Forum (DECF). The agreement, signed with the international business alliance B2BASEAN, aims to boost technological cooperation and investment in the region. Organisers expect the move to raise the profile of Asian participants at the upcoming event. The partnership focuses on joint projects in IT, digital transformation and cybersecurity. A newly signed document outlines plans to streamline collaboration between Russian firms and ASEAN member states. While no official participation or concrete deals with ASEAN nations have been confirmed as of March 2026, the agreement seeks to change this by May.
The DECF, scheduled for May 18–21 in Nizhny Novgorod, will expand its international programme. Foreign companies will join exhibitions and themed sessions, reflecting growing interest from Asian businesses. Local authorities have noted increased engagement from the region in recent months.
The platform is already used to promote Russian technologies abroad and build business links. The new deal is expected to amplify this effect, helping local companies enter new markets. Organisers believe it will also strengthen the region's global connections in the tech sector. The agreement sets the stage for closer collaboration between Nizhny Novgorod and Southeast Asia. It provides a framework for attracting investment and launching joint tech initiatives. The success of these plans will depend on participation at the upcoming forum in May.
