The Dresden Monarchs continue their impressive run in the German Football League (GFL), remaining undefeated with an 8-0 record as they head into late August. The team currently leads the North Division, securing a spot in the playoffs.

On August 10, the Monarchs faced a crucial game at home against the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, a team fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive. Head Coach Greg Seamon acknowledged the challenge, emphasizing the need for the Monarchs to play well to protect their unbeaten streak.

The GFL playoff structure sees the best four teams from each conference qualifying for the quarterfinals, with cross-conference matchups giving home advantage to the better-seeded teams. As North Division leaders, the Dresden Monarchs would follow this format in the quarterfinals, hosting a lower-seeded team from the opposite conference.

The 2025 GFL season is planned to culminate with the GFL Bowl on October 11, 2025, to be held in Dresden, adding significance to the Monarchs' playoff run.

In the August 10 game, the Monarchs emerged victorious with a convincing score of 48:21. Coach Seamon gave some players who don't usually get much playing time a chance in the game, due to the significant score. This was the ninth consecutive win for the Monarchs.

Reflecting on last year's championship, Coach Seamon shared that the team missed the title by a mere 16 yards. He expressed his goal for the team this season: to win the championship. The Monarchs will play their next home game against the Potsdam Royals on September 6th, with ticket sales yet to be announced.

The Monarchs will travel to the Paderborn Dolphins on August 31st before returning home for their playoff quarterfinal on September 20th. Ticket sales for the playoff quarterfinal will start on August 13th. Fans eager to support the Monarchs in their quest for the championship can look forward to these upcoming games.
