Bold New Era Ahead: National Assembly Gets Ready for Groundbreaking 9th Session

Ha Noi - Get ready for a game-changer! National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man has urged deputies to brace themselves for a marathon of well-thought-out, profound ideas, as the 15th NA embarks on its 9th session. This historic session, starting on May 5th and wrapping up on June 30th, promises to set the course for significant developments in the nation.

At a preliminary conference with the Standing Board of the NA's Party Committee and heads of NA delegations from provinces and centrally-run cities, the top legislator emphasized the importance of this session, given its ambitious goals, particularly in institutionalizing the Party's recent directives.

This session will be divided into two phases, with the primary focus on revising the Constitution, streamlining the organizational apparatus, restructuring administrative units, and implementing two-level local administration. The revisions, aimed at creating a clear legal framework and solid foundation for growth, will address bottlenecks, mobilize resources, and promote decentralization and the delegation of authority.

Regarding the constitutional and legislative work, the proposed amendments will impact approximately 8 out of the 120 articles of the Constitution. A Drafting Committee for Constitutional Amendments will oversee this process, adopting a reformed methodology and ensuring transparency through public consultation.

In addition, the session will address socio-economic development, state budget, and other national matters. Deputies are encouraged to carry out meticulous reviews of the Government's reports, make unbiased assessments of the current situation, identify issues, and propose feasible solutions. Particular emphasis should be given to resource allocation for science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, with the aim of achieving an economic growth rate of 8% or higher this year.

This policy shift has received widespread support and consensus from the public, highlighting its relevance and significance for the country's development. Areas of focus include the privatization of the economy, the development of the national railway system, and enhancing the alignment of the state budget with national development goals.

To ensure transparency and accountability, the legislature will evaluate the 2025 supervision program and adopt a resolution outlining the 2026 supervision agenda. A 1.5-day Q&A session will be dedicated to public welfare and state governance issues.

In conclusion, the 9th session of the 15th National Assembly marks a turning point in Vietnam's modernization and development. With an emphasis on institutional reforms, constitutional amendments, and socio-economic development, it aims to modernize the political system, enhance economic growth, and protect the country's long-term interests.
