Ninth-grade pupil aids mother in plotting and carrying out the murder of the father in Assam, disturbing facts disclosed
In a shocking turn of events, four individuals have been arrested in Assam's Lahon Gaon, following the murder of businessman Uttam Gogoi, also known as Sankai. The 38-year-old was found dead at his residence on July 25, with his family initially reporting his death as a result of a pressure stroke.
However, investigations have revealed suspicious details at the scene, such as a severed piece of his ear and an open umbrella beside the body, which have raised doubts about the cause of death. The police now suspect that the death was a pre-planned murder.
The four arrested individuals include Uttam Gogoi's wife, Boby Sonowal Gogoi, their teenage daughter (a Class 9 student, approximately 16 years old), and two youths named Dipjyoti Buragohain (21 years old) and a minor accomplice (around 17 years old). The daughter was in a relationship with Dipjyoti Buragohain.
Initial investigations suggest that the mother and daughter allegedly orchestrated a conspiracy to eliminate Uttam Gogoi, hiring Dipjyoti and the minor as contract killers. The mother and daughter reportedly paid them large sums of money and gave gold jewelry as payment for the murder.
The police suspect the murder was premeditated rather than impulsive, and the motive remains under further investigation, but it clearly involved a conspiracy for financial gain or family disputes. The case has caused outrage locally, with residents of Barbaruah staging a protest outside the local police station, demanding justice and stringent action.
The daughter of Uttam Gogoi has confessed to her role in the crime. The police have stated that further action will be taken as per the law.
