Nintendo Fan 'ChickenDog' Camps Out for 60 Days for New Switch 2

A dedicated fan, known as ChickenDog on YouTube, has been camping outside the Nintendo Store in Midtown, Manhattan since April 5, 2025, to secure his place as the first to buy the new Nintendo Switch 2 on its release day, June 5, 2025. This queueing action is reminiscent of previous Nintendo news releases, highlighting the passion and dedication of its fans.

ChickenDog plans to document his entire experience on his YouTube channel, providing daily updates, sharing conversations with fellow fans, and offering insights into his daily life during his 60-day camping stint. He has a strategy in place, including retreats to nearby accommodation when needed, and support from friends helping him maintain his spot when he's not present.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to come in two versions. The standard version is priced around $450, approximately €420, while a special edition bundled with the game Mario Kart World is set to cost around $500, about €465. However, Nintendo has postponed the start of pre-orders due to ongoing political discussions about new import tariffs that could potentially affect the news of the pricing.

Nintendo fans, like ChickenDog, eagerly await the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, demonstrating the console's significance in their lives. The new console's pricing and pre-order status remain uncertain due to ongoing political discussions, but fans continue to show their dedication and excitement.
