Nintendo Direct skips first-party games, spotlights third-party Switch 2 titles instead

Nintendo has announced a Direct presentation for February 5, 2026, but fans of first-party titles may be disappointed. The event will focus entirely on third-party games, with no new Nintendo-developed releases in sight. Instead, upgrades for existing Switch games and fresh surprises will come from external studios.

The lineup includes major names like FromSoftware, Capcom, and Sega, alongside rumours of a new 3D Mario game for the Switch 2 later in the year.

The February 2026 Direct will showcase a range of third-party titles already confirmed for the Nintendo Switch 2. Koei Tecmo's Dynasty Warriors: Origins arrives on January 22, 2026, while EA Sports FC 26 is set for September 26, 2025. IO Interactive and Feral Interactive are bringing Hitman: Absolution in 2026, with Hitman: World of Assassination landing earlier on June 5, 2025.

Other highlights include One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 from Bandai Namco on November 21, 2025, and Overcooked! 2 from Team17 on November 6, 2025. Capcom's Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled for February 27, 2026, while Sega will release Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Tides on February 12, 2026. Atari and Digital Eclipse's The Disney Afternoon Collection follows on February 26, 2026.

FromSoftware's The Duskbloods and Annapurna Interactive's Demi and the Fractured Dream are also expected in 2026. Square Enix may reveal more about Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, due on February 5. Rumours additionally suggest a new crazy games title from Monolith Soft could appear during the presentation.

Despite the absence of first-party Nintendo games, the event promises a packed schedule of third-party releases, upgrades, and potential announcements for the Switch 2's growing library.

The February 2026 Direct will highlight third-party support for the Nintendo Switch 2, with no first-party Nintendo games in the lineup. Titles like The Duskbloods, Resident Evil Requiem, and Yakuza Kiwami 3 are among the confirmed releases, while rumours point to a new cool math games game later in the year. The presentation will also offer updates on previously announced games, reinforcing the console's expanding third-party catalogue.
