Nintendo commemorates Mar10 Day through game releases, film announcements, and a range of Mario-related events
Get ready, Mario fans! The world of everyone's favourite plumber is brimming with exciting news. From new games to sales, movie announcements, and more, there's plenty to look forward to.
Firstly, LEGO Super Mario is set to welcome Mario Kart into its universe. A new teaser has revealed that the beloved racing game will be joining the LEGO Super Mario lineup in the future.
Moving on to the Nintendo Switch, Luigi's Mansion 2 HD is making a comeback. This enhanced HD version of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, originally released for the Nintendo 3DS, is expected to release in the summer of 2024. Although the exact date hasn't been confirmed yet, a hands-on preview is scheduled for around June 2024, and the game is expected to hit the shelves by August 2025 at the latest.
Fans of classic Game Boy games featuring Mario will be delighted to know that three of these games have been available on the Nintendo Switch since 2023. They are part of the Nintendo Classics collection on the Switch, and include Dr. Mario, Mario Golf, and Mario Tennis.
Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can enjoy classic NES, Super NES, and Game Boy games for multiplayer. The service also offers a 14-day free trial, available on My Nintendo, through March 17.
Pre-orders for Luigi's Mansion 2 HD are available now on the Nintendo eShop and on Nintendo.com. For those eagerly waiting for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, pre-orders for this remake of the classic GameCube JRPG are also available. The revamped version, featuring updated graphics and new gameplay features, is scheduled for release on July 22, 2025.
MAR10 Day continues to offer a variety of Mario-themed activities all month long. In addition, purchasing a Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch-OLED Model, or Nintendo Switch Lite from select retailers between March 10-16 will earn you a $25 retailer gift card.
The excitement doesn't stop there! A new animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros. is in the works. Developed by Nintendo and Illumination, the film is set to be released on April 3, 2026, in the US and many other markets globally.
