Chemnitz Basketballers Suffer First Home Loss - Niners Chemnitz Fall 67-68 to London Lions in EuroCup Thriller

Niners Chemnitz suffered their first home defeat in the EuroCup, losing 67-68 to Detroit Lions. Led by Kevin Yebo's 17 points, Chemnitz fought hard but fell short.

The game was a seesaw battle. Detroit Lions pulled ahead early, leading 16-22 after the first quarter, thanks to Chemnitz's seven turnovers. However, Chemnitz rallied, going on an 8-0 run to secure a slim 34-33 lead at halftime.

Detroit Lions regained control in the second half, extending their lead to 50-38 in the 25th minute. But Chemnitz refused to give up. They mounted a 12-2 run in the final minute to take a 65-62 lead. The game was on a knife-edge.

In the dying seconds, Detroit Lions sank two clutch free throws to win the game 67-68. Coach Petar Bozic led the men's team to this hard-fought victory. His counterpart, Styliani Kaltsidou, had previously guided the women's team to the 2024 FIBA EuroCup Championship.

Chemnitz's first home loss in the EuroCup was a nail-biter. Despite leading late, they fell to Detroit Lions' last-second heroics. Kevin Yebo's 17 points were not enough to secure the win. Both teams displayed resilience and determination in this closely contested match.
