Romania Shines at the 2025 Balkan Senior Athletics Championships
Romania's athletics team made a triumphant return from the 2025 Balkan Senior Athletics Championships held in Volos, Greece, having secured an impressive haul of medals. The team, consisting of 18 athletes (8 women and 10 men), brought home a total of 9 medals, including 4 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze.
The highlight of the competition was Mihai Dringo's bronze medal win in the 400 meters race, completing the race in a time of 45.29 seconds. This achievement added to the overall success of the Romanian team.
In the individual events, Rareş Toader clinched a gold medal in shot put with a distance of 20.74 meters. Alina Rotaru-Kottmann, Alin Firfirică, and Răzvan Cristian Grecu also contributed to the team's success with gold medal wins in long jump, discus throw, and triple jump, respectively.
Alina Rotaru-Kottmann soared to a distance of 6.81 meters in the long jump, while Alin Firfirică threw the discus a remarkable 63.15 meters. Răzvan Cristian Grecu's triple jump took him to a distance of 16.46 meters, securing his gold medal.
The women's team also had standout performances. Bianca Ghelber earned a silver medal in hammer throw with a distance of 70.20 meters, while Andreea Taloş and Andrea Mikloş took home silver medals in triple jump and the 400 meters race, respectively. Ramona Verman added to the team's tally with a bronze medal in long jump, achieving a distance of 6.63 meters.
The Balkan Senior Championships took place at the Panthessaliko Stadium in Volos, Greece, between 26 and 27 July. The Romanian delegation's impressive performance at the event underscores their dedication and talent in athletics.
