Nine Personalities Honoured for Their Contributions to Paris 2024

On a grand stage set up at the foot of the Arc de Triomphe, President Emmanuel Macron awarded decorations to nine personalities associated with the Paris 2024 Games on September 14, 2023.

Among those honoured was Laurent Nunez, the Prefect of Police and in charge of public security, who was decorated as an Officer of the Legion of Honor. Anne Hidalgo, the Mayor of Paris, was also promoted to Officer of the Legion of Honor.

Marc Guillaume, Prefect of Paris and Île-de-France, in charge of the Seine, private security, and fan zones, was promoted to a Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor. Michel Cadot, the former Interministerial Delegate for the Games, also received the same honour.

Etienne Thobois, the director general of the Paris 2024 organizing committee, was named a Knight of the Legion of Honor. Amélie Mauresmo, a torchbearer in the Paris 2024 opening ceremony and marathon runner, was also awarded this distinction.

Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, who was the Sports and Games Minister before the Games, was named a Knight of the Legion of Honor. She has now taken on a new role as President of the CNOSF.

In addition to the Legion of Honor, Amélie Mauresmo was also promoted to Officer of the National Order of Merit. General of Arms Christophe Abad was named a Grand Officer of the National Order of Merit, and General of Arms Bruno Le Ray received the Grand Cross of the National Order of Merit.

Anne Hidalgo has been involved in the Olympic adventure since 2015. Before her decoration with the Legion of Honour on September 14, 2023, she was previously awarded the Grand Officer of the National Order of Merit in 2012, a year before she became the Mayor of Paris in 2014. Specific details about other awards she received before her latest honour are not provided in the available search results. Further research might be necessary to uncover more about her earlier accolades.

These decorations are a testament to the hard work and dedication of these individuals in ensuring the success of the Paris 2024 Games. Their contributions have not only brought honour to themselves but also to France and the city of Paris.
