Nine Inch Nails performance live debut of latest single "As Alive As You Need Me To Be" during their North American tour kickoff, featuring Josh Freese returning on drums for the Peel it Back tour.
The Peel It Back world tour by Nine Inch Nails, which began in Dublin, Ireland on June 15, is still ongoing and has been captivating audiences across the globe. The tour, which resumes tonight in Portland, is a testament to the band's enduring creativity and innovative spirit.
One of the highlights of the tour has been the live premiere of the band's current single, "As Alive As You Need Me To Be." Performed on the tour's 'B' stage, this dynamic track features a collaboration with German musician/producer Boys Noize (Alexander Ridha), Trent Reznor, and Atticus Ross. The song is from the TRON: Ares soundtrack.
The tour's upcoming shows include stops in Seattle, Denver, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Boston, Cleveland, New York, Raleigh, Nashville, Duluth, Tampa, Houston, Fort Worth, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and more. Boys Noize will be supporting Nine Inch Nails on all confirmed Peel It Back tour dates.
It's worth noting that the tour does not include any dates featuring the 'A' stage, as "As Alive As You Need Me To Be" was performed on the 'B' stage. Additionally, the tour's upcoming shows do not include any dates in Ireland or featuring Ilan Rubin or Foo Fighters, as Josh Freese returned to Nine Inch Nails' line-up for the Peel It Back tour.
The tour emphasizes a mix of acoustic and electronic elements with notable staging and lighting effects, and has received positive reviews for its intense performance and production quality. The third show received a full five-star review from Louder, praising the reinvention of the band's performance. The review commends Nine Inch Nails for not pandering or acquiescing to expectations, but for reconfiguring their art with fearlessness and quiet confidence.
Tickets for the tour have been available since January 29, 2025, with exclusive tour merchandise offered online as well. Fans eagerly await the release of "As Alive As You Need Me To Be" on September 19 via Interscope Records.
