Nine Inch Nails perform new single "As Alive As You Need Me To Be" live for the first time, launching their North American tour titled "Peel it Back" with Josh Freese back on drums.

The iconic industrial rock band, Nine Inch Nails, is currently on their Peel It Back world tour, which kicked off on June 15 in Dublin, Ireland. The tour is making its way across North America and will be stopping in various cities, including Portland's Moda Center on August 8 and St Paul's Xcel Energy Center on August 17.

During the tour's opening show in Dublin, Nine Inch Nails performed their current single, "As Alive As You Need Me To Be," for the first time live. This song, which is a part of the TRON: Ares soundtrack, has been praised for its reinvention and reconfiguration of Nine Inch Nails' performance dynamics and theatrics. Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, and German musician/producer Boys Noize (Alexander Ridha) collaborated on the live performance of the single.

Boys Noize is supporting Nine Inch Nails on all confirmed Peel It Back tour dates, adding an exciting element to the performances. The tour also includes Josh Freese on drums, who returned to the Nine Inch Nails line-up for the Peel It Back world tour since 2008, contributing to the tour's distinctive live dynamic.

The Peel It Back world tour sets typically include a mix of acoustic piano versions, partially acoustic versions, and full band performances. The performances feature a blend of classic Nine Inch Nails songs, remixes performed with Boys Noize, and occasional interpolations and covers. Shows often feature a b-stage for acoustic and experimental performances alongside the main stage set.

Recent setlists from August 2025 include acoustic piano versions with snippets from "Somewhat Damaged," remixes with Boys Noize on the b-stage, main stage sets featuring a blend of classic Nine Inch Nails songs and remixes, and the use of taped songs like "Laura Palmer's Theme" by Angelo Badalamenti and "I Only Have Eyes for You" (The Flamingos version) in the set flow.

After August 15, 2025, the tour will visit Seattle's Climate Pledge Arena on August 17, followed by West Valley City's Maverik Center on August 19. Additional dates in St. Paul, MN, and Chicago, IL, are scheduled but specific dates need confirmation.

"As Alive As You Need Me To Be" will be released on September 19 via Interscope Records. The Nine Inch Nails Peel It Back world tour resumes tonight in Portland.

Notably, Ilan Rubin, who was a member of Nine Inch Nails, left the band to join Foo Fighters. The North American leg of the Peel It Back world tour started on August 6 at the Oakland Arena in California.
