Claude Lelouch, the renowned film director, mourned the loss of his muse on Instagram, penning an emotional tribute. "Her unique voice was the breath of my films, the music of my feelings," he wrote. "She was a muse, a friend, a comrade."

The actual refrain of the song, "daba daba da," has been ingrained in our collective memory due to its preceding text and the French language's ingenious word combinations. The phrase "Chabadabada" has stood the test of time.

"A Man and a Woman," a seminal film from 1966, featured Croisille's enchanting vocals, immortalizing her voice in French cinema history. The film's soundtrack, composed by Francis Lai, became a defining piece of French cinema history, with Croisille's contributions internationally recognized.

Her succulent solo "Today It's You" and her duets with Pierre Barouh added a touch of magic to the film. Her versatility extended to multiple genres, including jazz, as she graced the stages of renowned venues like L'Olympia in Paris.

Croisille's journey began at 17, when she danced in the ballet of the Comédie-Française and studied under mime artist Marcel Marceau. She toured the USA with Marceau, discovering her love for jazz music. Later, she became part of French-American artist Josephine Baker's ensemble.

Despite retiring from the limelight, she continued to perform on stage, relishing challenges, such as in a Sacha Guitry comedy in 2019. "I'm having a blast! At my age, I love challenges," she exclaimed to AFP before her 83rd birthday.
