Defender Nico Schlotterbeck, a key player for Borussia Dortmund, shares his decision to retreat from public life amid a lengthy rehabilitation period.

Injured Borussia Dortmund and German national team defender, Nico Schlotterbeck, took to Instagram to inform his followers about a prolonged rehabilitation journey due to a torn meniscus in his left knee. This setback not only rules him out for the rest of the BVB season but also for coach Julian Nagelsmann in the Nations League final tournament.

"The road ahead will be long and challenging, but I am determined to do everything to get back to prime fitness," the 25-year-old shared in his post. The German team will face Portugal in Munich for the Nations League semi-finals on June 4, followed by the final and third-place playoff on June 8. Sadly, Schlotterbeck will not be fit in time for these games. In the quarter-finals against Italy, Schlotterbeck delivered a standout performance.

Coach Nagelsmann's Word:"Nico's absence is a significant blow. He is indispensable to the club and the team, on and off the pitch," Nagelsmann expressed before Schlotterbeck's announcement. "We wish Nico a speedy recovery and will be supporting him every step of the way!"

Alongside Schlotterbeck's absence, coach Nagelsmann has been dealing with the muscle tear injury of FC Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala, further adding to concerns for the Nations League. The exact availability of the young talent, Musiala, remains uncertain.

Meanwhile, Schlotterbeck shared that he would be stepping back from public life and social media during his rehabilitation process. "I need this break for my recovery, and more so, for myself and my mental well-being," he stated.
