In a memorable twist, the winners of the 2025 British Grand Prix received trophies made entirely of LEGO bricks, marking a significant milestone in the sport's rich history and commemorating its 75th anniversary.
The LEGO Group and Formula 1 partnered to create these trophies, inspired by the design of the traditional RAC (Royal Automobile Club) golden British Grand Prix trophy. Each trophy was meticulously constructed from over 2,700 LEGO bricks, with the first-place trophy standing over 59 cm tall and weighing more than 2 kg. The second and third-place trophies, including the one presented to Nico Hülkenberg, featured distinctive red and blue accents and were slightly smaller at 43 cm tall and 1.5 kg in weight.
The trophies, which incorporated decorative LEGO Formula 1 car models, were assembled by seven LEGO Master Builders in Denmark, requiring a total of 210 hours to complete. To ensure their durability, the trophies were glued together securely to withstand the usual celebratory moments, such as champagne spraying.
Nico Hülkenberg, driving for KICK Sauber F1 Team, earned a well-deserved third-place podium finish at the British Grand Prix, marking a significant milestone in his career. Hülkenberg, who had waited 15 years and 239 races to finish in the top three, expressed his delight at receiving the unique LEGO trophy, although he jokingly suggested that a little silver and gold in the trophy would have been nice.
Meanwhile, defending champion Oscar Piastri, who already has several trophies in his collection, made lighthearted remarks about the LEGO trophy, suggesting it could be taken apart and bought again. The winning team at Silverstone also received a LEGO trophy, making the event a true celebration of creativity and innovation.
This initiative reflects LEGO’s multi-year collaboration with Formula 1, aiming to engage families worldwide with playful and immersive fan experiences, while also commemorating the sport's rich heritage at a legendary circuit like Silverstone.
