NHL star observes tennis contender leaving him stunned

A star is born in the world of tennis as 17-year-old wonder kid, Justin Engel, from Nuremberg, makes a splash in his grass debut. After an impressive quarterfinal run at Stuttgart, Engel bested Aussie James Duckworth in a tensed-filled match, 4:6, 6:4, 7:6 (7:5), showing off his mettle under pressure.

Despite squandering two match points at 5:4 in the third set, Engel rebounded. The upcoming player testified, "I'm beyond proud of myself!" The wildcard entrant needed 2 hours and 29 minutes to take it home.

Among the spectators was NHL defenseman Moritz Seider, taking a break from his summer in Mannheim. He explained his visit to the tennis match with his girlfriend, Anna Seidel, a former short track skater, "I'm just a sports enthusiast. I grab every chance to watch."

This quartet of 17-year-olds has revitalized enthusiasm for German men's tennis after Alexander Zverev. Standouts include French Open junior champ, Niels McDonald, who bested German Max Schoenhaus in a German final. Diego Dedura joined Engel in playing on the ATP Tour.

Alexander Zverev, the top seed of the Stuttgart tournament, worth 751,630 euros, snagged a bye for the first round. Preparing for the grass season after his French Open exit, we'll likely see him in action on Thursday.

Unfortunately, Yannick Hanfmann, the qualifier from Karlsruhe, fell to Hungarian Marton Fucsovics after a 5:7, 4:6 defeat. Jan-Lennard Struff progressed to the quarterfinals on Monday.
