NHL Players from Belarus: Sharangovich Discusses Relationship with Protas

The Calgary Flames' star, Yegor Sharangovich, chuckles about his friendly rivalry with fellow Belarusian Alexei Protas from the Washington Capitals.

Yegor, a left-wing player for the New Jersey Devils, spoke about their camaraderie in an interview with Bet News. Despite being teammates in a different sense, there's no cutthroat competition between them, as Sharangovich explained. He even congratulated Protas on breaking the record for productivity among Belarusians in the NHL.

"We get along just fine, and there's no sense of competition between us. When he set his record, I gave him a shout-out and wished he'd score even more goals to top me in goal count too," Yegor said with a grin.

While there might not be fierce competition on the personal front, consistency in performance is crucial for Protas according to Yegor. Inconsistencies in productivity, as per the Devils' attacker, prevent Protas from truly shining in the NHL.

In terms of specifics, Sharangovich is currently recovering from a broken foot and is scheduled to return around September 15, 2025. Meanwhile, Protas, a center for the Capitals, continues to play without apparent injuries affecting his performance.

Both Yegor Sharangovich and Aliaksei Protas are active players in the National Hockey League (NHL), each bringing their unique skills to their respective teams. Despite their friendly banter, the spirit of competition remains strong within the league, with each team aiming for victory while individual players push themselves to perform at their best.

"Yegor Sharangovich, a left-wing player for the New Jersey Devils in the NHL, maintains a friendly rivalry with fellow Belarusian Alexei Protas, a center for the Washington Capitals, as they compete in different teams. During an interview, Sharangovich congratulated Protas on breaking the record for productivity among Belarusians in the NHL."

"Sharangovich and Protas' camaraderie doesn't take away from the intense competition within the NHL, where each player strives to outperform their counterparts and lead their teams to victories."
