NFL Week 6 Tournaments on FanDuel and DraftKings: Top Picks to Consider
Weekly guide to rocking DFS with some of the finest tournament plays for the upcoming NFL weekend!
This post focuses on smashing those GPP lineups, chasing that upside, going big or going home! Let's dive right into the action!
Tournament Plays for FanDuel and DraftKings: NFL Week 6
Quarterback
Philip Rivers (LAC, FD: $7,000, DK: $6,400) at Oakland Raiders
Uncle Phil is in a groove, tallying 605 yards and five TD passes over the last two weeks. He's heading to town to face a defense that's Deebo dodging against the pass (30th in DVOA) and sacks (28th). They've also failed to nab a single pick so far. With the seventh-overall pick Mike Williams hitting the gridiron for his NFL debut, the gunslinging duo is looking mighty fine. Equally impressive, Uncle Phil registered 359 yards and 4 TDs in his last visit to Oak-Town last season. Could history repeat?
Kevin Hogan (CLE, FD: $6,000, DK: $4,400) at Houston Texans
The second-year QB out of Stanford jogs in as the cheapest option on both platforms. While he's yet to light up the stat-sheet, he's faced some formidable foes. We like his chances this week, meeting a banged-up Texans defense and likely trailing, as Hogan's completed 26-38 (68.4%) of his passes for 377 yards, 3 TDs, and 2 INTs. The man can also scramble, having averaged 26.3 yards rushing in '17 and posting 30 yards on 4 attempts last week. Score big with this GPP play at a reduced price, opening up your lineup to stud RBs and WRs.
Running Back
Mark Ingram (FD: $5,800, DK: $4,300) vs. Detroit Lions
While sparkling rookie Alvin Kamara steals the spotlight, Ingram's touch count has been increasing every game (11, 12, 16, 18). With Adrian Peterson on the bench, Ingram should reap the rewards in this backfield bonanza. Expect Ingram to see up to 20-25 touches this week, outshining Kamara in ownership.
Devonta Freeman (ATL, FD: $8,400, DK: $7,300) vs. Miami Dolphins
Big favorites at home with a juicy 30-point team total, this play just screams "cash!" Tevin Coleman's health is a concern, so Freeman could see even more snaps. He leads the Falcons with 20+ touches in the last three weeks and has thrived at the Big Peach, scoring 14 of 18 TDs since 2016. Don't mess around - jump on the Freeman train early.
Mike Gillislee (NE, FD: $6,100, DK: $5,500) at New York Jets
A poor showing since Week 1, Gillislee's been averaging 12 carries for a paltry 60 yards the last three weeks. But fear not! If there's a spot for Mr. Gillislee to bounce back, this could be it. The Jets have Deebo dodging against the run (25th in DVOA) and have authorized the fourth-most fantasy points to RBs this season. The Pats are 9.5-point darlings, so Tom Terrific and company should carve up the Jets, providing Gillislee ample opportunity. Call it a hunch, but this could be a value pick with sky-high upside.
Wide Receiver
Terrelle Pryor Sr. (WSH, FD: $6,700, DK: $5,600) vs. San Francisco 49ers
We've been Pryor-ing over a breakout game, and while he's teased with chemistry with Kirk Cousins, it's never truly clicked. Fire up Terrelle this week, as he'll get a reboot following the bye. Remember, boundary receivers have sizzled against the 49ers, so Pryor could get his groove back against this questionable secondary.
Larry Fitzgerald (ARI, FD: $6,500, DK: $6,700) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Fitz's been a steadfast receiver with a solid floor, but he has the potential for a big day against Robert McClain (111 ranked cornerback in coverage this season). With Brent Grimes set to cover the outside receivers, Fitzgerald will probably see the most action and be attending the party in the end zone.
Taylor Gabriel (ATL, FD: $5,700, DK: $4,500) vs. Miami Dolphins
Corey Coleman's hand injury and Kenny Britt's groin strain puts Taylor Gabriel in a favorable position. With Sanu out this week, Gabriel, the team's red-zone target leader, is set to see an uptick in snaps and targets, making him a WR2 worth considering, especially at the minimum price on FanDuel.
Ricardo Louis (CLE, FD: $4,400, DK: $3,800) at Houston Texans
Louis has emerged as the Browns' number one receiver with Coleman and Britt sidelined. Boasting a solid performance the last two weeks (10 receptions for 135 yards), Louis is a shinny, low-cost option who doesn't need much to find value.
Tight End
George Kittle (SF, FD: $5,200, DK: $3,300) at Washington Redskins
Following a respectable outing in Week 5, Kittle's ready to make a splash. The Redskins allow 100+ receiving yards to opposing tight ends in three of their four games, providing an excellent opportunity for Kittle to join the party.
Zach Miller (CHI, FD: $5,000, DK: $2,900) at Baltimore Ravens
Knocked around a bit the last two weeks, Miller remains a reliable safety net for Mitchell Trubisky. Chicago faces a Baltimore defense that has struggled against TEs (32nd in DVOA), making the Bears passing game more potent, and Miller a worthy target despite the tough matchup.
Defense/Special Teams
Atlanta Falcons (FD: $5,000, DK: $3,500) vs. Miami Dolphins
Welcome the NFL's worst offense (231.2 total yards per game) to town. Limping in with a 17-point total and a hobbled QB, Miami should have no problem being drowned by Atlanta's pass rush and likely a few turnovers. If they manage to score off one of those turnovers, it'll be a bountiful week for the Falcons' D.
For NFL Week 6, consider the always reliable Philip Rivers ($7,000 on FanDuel, $6,400 on DraftKings) against the Oakland Raiders as a prime tournament play, capitalizing on the Raiders' struggling pass defense.
Reach for second-year quarterback Kevin Hogan ($6,000 on FanDuel, $4,400 on DraftKings) against the Houston Texans, who struggle with injuries and rank lower in defense. Hognan's rushing abilities could produce significant value at a reduced price.
Target Mark Ingram ($5,800 on FanDuel, $4,300 on DraftKings) against the Detroit Lions, as Ingram's touch count increases more than Alvin Kamara, making him a high-value play for your lineup.
