NFL Week 2 Value Picks for Daily Fantasy Sports on FanDuel and DraftKings

Week 2 Daily Fantasy Football Value Plays at Every Position for DraftKings and FanDuel

Quarterbacks

(Restrictions: FanDuel: <=$7,500, DraftKings: <=$6,000)

Philip Rivers (LAC, FD: $7,000, DK: $5,800) vs. Miami Dolphins

With a sturdy projected team total of 24.8, Rivers takes on a defense that gave up the fifth-most passing yards per game in 2016 (262.4). The Dolphins ranked fourth-worst in letting quarterbacks stack up fantasy points last season, including Rivers' 324-yard, 3 TD performance against them (he also threw 4 interceptions). Given his Week 1 three-TD showing against a stout Broncos secondary, Rivers should make light work of the Dolphins' defense in their 2017 opener.

Jared Goff (LAR, FD: $6,500, DK: $5,100) vs. Washington Redskins

The Rams begin as 2.5-point favorites over Washington with a solid point total of 24.3. Despite facing a questionable Colts defense in Week 1, Goff balled out with 306 yards and a TD in his first game under Sean McVay. Even though the Redskins limited Carson Wentz to 307 yards and 2 TDs last weekend, they provided some chances for Goff, a young quarterback with an impressive supporting cast in Sammy Watkins and Cooper Kupp. McVay, having spent seven years as a Redskins coach, may have some inside knowledge to help Goff go off for another strong week.

Running Backs

(Restrictions: FanDuel: <$6,000, DraftKings: <$5,500)

Tarik Cohen (CHI, FD: $5,400, DK: $4,100) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Cohen impressed in his NFL debut, netting 103 total yards from scrimmage (5 rushes for 66 yards + 8 catches for 47) and finding the end zone. The Bears boast a similar game plan as their week 1 matchup against the Falcons, which should benefit Cohen. Meanwhile, the Bucs sit as 7-point favorites, so it's likely that their scoring pace will allow Cohen to receive plenty of opportunities. Having tripled his target count from the starter Jordan Howard, Cohen shows promising potential as a fixture in the Bears' passing attack.

Javorius Allen (BAL, FD: $4,900, DK: $4,100) vs. Cleveland Browns

With Danny Woodhead out for the season, Allen takes over as the Ravens' primary pass-catching back. In week 1, the rookie saw 21 carries, just behind Terrance West's 19, but took home the lone rushing touchdown. With the Browns standing as 7.5-point underdogs, Allen should see enough carries and passes to produce value for his affordable price.

Wide Receivers

(Restrictions: FanDuel: <$6,000, DraftKings: <$5,500)

Marqise Lee (JAX, FD: $5,900, DK: $3,800) vs. Tennessee Titans

Losing WR1 Allen Robinson for the season to an ACL tear, Lee moves into the #1 spot on Jacksonville's depth chart. Although the Jags looked to control the matchup against the Texans with their tough defense and rushing attack, Marcus Mariota and the Titans should provide a stronger offensive challenge in week 2. Blake Bortles managed to pass for 125 yards and a TD against the Texans, and I expect him to put up better numbers against a less effective defense. Giving Lee flexibility at that low price point on DraftKings makes him an attractive option for week 2.

Adam Thielen (MIN, FD: $5,800, DK: $5,000) at Pittsburgh Steelers

Thielen looked good in week 1, catching 9 passes for 157 yards, with a chance for Thielen's price to remain low given demand for talent on the Vikings offense. In the matchup against the Steelers, who stifled the Browns' passing game somewhat last week, Thielen should still have opportunities. A versatile route-runner who excels at finding space, Thielen is a great option for fantasy players looking to fill out their lineups with value options.

Cooper Kupp (LAR, FD: $5,400, DK: $4,100) vs. Washington Redskins

Kupp picked up where he left off in preseason, leading the Rams with 6 targets, 76 receiving yards and a TD in their week 1 victory against the Colts. The Redskins allowed a solid 264.8 passing yards to Carson Wentz last week, and with a dearth of tight end options in L.A., Kupp will likely maintain a prominent role in the passing attack for Week 2.

Jermaine Kearse (NYJ, FD: $5,400, DK: $3,900) at Oakland Raiders

Kearse took full advantage of his increased opportunities in week 1, catching 7 passes for 59 yards. Although the Oakland defense impressed against the Titans in week 1, volume can trump a less than ideal matchup. Given the likelihood of the Jets needing to throw to keep up with the high-powered Raiders offense, Kearse should see multiple opportunities to produce solid fantasy numbers.

Tight Ends

(Restrictions: FanDuel: <$5,500, DraftKings: <$3,500)

Charles Clay (BUF, FD: $5,200, DK: $3,000) at Carolina Panthers

Although the Bills offense struggled overall in week 1, Clay led all Buffalo receivers with 9 targets, catching 4 for 51 yards. With the Panthers allowing the second-most points to tight ends last season and Taylor notoriously favoring the tight end, Clay could be a good value option in week 2. With Clay's count of targets increasing each week, expect more opportunities for him to produce in the coming weeks.

Jason Witten (DAL, FD: $5,400, DK: $3,400) at Denver Broncos

Last season, Witten finished as the TE1 on DraftKings. Despite a poor week 1 performance against the Giants, look for Witten to step up against the Broncos, who gave up 317 passing yards and 2 touchdowns to Kirk Cousins in week 1. With both fellow Cowboys receivers Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams struggling, and Ezekiel Elliott potentially missing multiple games, expect a heavy dose of passes to Witten.

Defense/ Special Teams

(Restrictions: FanDuel: <$4,500, DraftKings: <$3,000)

Los Angeles Chargers (FD: $4,300, DK: $2,800)

The Chargers defense ranked top 5 in sacks and turnovers created in 2016, so they should consistently provide value for fantasy players. With a matchup against the Dolphins, who were 29th in yards allowed per game and 24th in passing touchdowns allowed in 2016, I'm confident the Chargers can generate another big week. As Jay Cutler takes the helm for the Dolphins, look for the Chargers' defense to pressure him into mistakes and force turnovers to continue their strong start to the season.

  1. In the NFL, ‘Philip Rivers (LAC)' is an underdog quarterback with a chance to shine against the ‘Miami Dolphins' in a sports game of American-football, football, as he faces a defense that struggled against passing yards and fantasy point production last season.
  2. As the 'Los Angeles Rams' open their season against the ‘Washington Redskins' in the sports of football, american-football, ‘Jared Goff' could make a significant impact, given his impressive supporting cast, the Redskins' defense allowing points to quarterbacks last week, and Goff's own strong Week 1 performance.
  3. In the football game, american-football, ‘Tarik Cohen (CHI)' from the ‘Chicago Bears' is a potential underrated running back, facing the ‘Tampa Bay Buccaneers' who are favored – creating opportunities for Cohen due to his versatility and the Bears' game plan.
