NFL Speculation: Potential Travis Etienne Jr. Trade by Jaguars Possible Under Specific Scenario

Jacksonville Jaguars' Future Uncertain with Travis Etienne Jr. NFL Draft Trade Rumors

The Jacksonville Jaguars suffered a defeat in their latest NFL game against the Cincinnati Bengals, led by Jake Browning. The loss, however, wasn't the only talking point from the match, as Travis Etienne Jr. made headlines. Despite not scoring a rushing touchdown this season, Etienne did manage a receiving touchdown against the Bengals last week.

Etienne's performance has been impressive, with a career-high 7.1 yards per attempt on 30 carries, totalling 214 rushing yards. His productivity has not gone unnoticed by the new coaching staff, who believe he is a great fit for the offense they want to run.

However, the emergence of rookie running backs Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen Jr. could potentially see Etienne moved from the team. Tuten has received the second most touches in Jacksonville's backfield this season, with 13, while Allen Jr. has only seen four touches in 20 snaps.

The Jaguars selected Tuten in the fourth round and Allen Jr. in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft. NFL trade rumors are arising due to the Jaguars wanting to get a longer look at their rookie running backs.

The success of the Jaguars in their upcoming six NFL games (vs. Houston, @ San Francisco, vs. Kansas City, vs. Seattle, vs. Los Angeles [London], and @ Las Vegas) could be a deciding factor in whether they trade Etienne Jr. or not. If the team falls out of contention, moving Etienne, who has a $6.143 million salary, would be relatively easy, according to ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano.

The NFL trade deadline for the 2025 NFL season is on November 4, 2025, at 4:00 pm EST. NFL trade talks for Etienne could extend through the first half of the 2025 NFL season if he continues producing. If he does, teams could involve his name in NFL trade talks, making his future with the Jaguars uncertain.

The NFL salary cap system was introduced in the 1994 season, and the Jaguars will need to consider this when deciding whether to trade Etienne or not. The success of their rookie running backs could play a significant role in this decision.

In the meantime, the Jaguars will continue to focus on their upcoming NFL games, with the outcome likely to determine their approach to the NFL trade deadline.
