NFL Power Rankings crown Eagles' defensive tackle as the top performer, according to Pro Football Focus.
In the 2024 NFL season, the Philadelphia Eagles boasted one of the strongest offensive lines, a testament to the coaching prowess of Jeff Stoutland. Despite losing Hall of Famer Jason Kelce, the team managed to plug the gap at center with Cam Jurgens and secure the services of Mekhi Becton, who proved to be a formidable addition at right guard.
Jordan Mailata, the Eagles' talented left tackle, has earned the title of the best offensive tackle in the league according to Pro Football Focus (PFF). PFF's analyst Zoltán Buday asserted that Mailata was the most complete offensive lineman in 2024, with only two offensive tackles, including Mailata himself, achieving PFF pass-blocking and run-blocking grades above 90.0. His overall grade of 95.2 led the position, further cementing his status as the top offensive tackle.
In addition to Mailata's accolades, Lane Johnson also garnered praise from PFF. Landing in fifth place, Johnson was one of two offensive tackles to earn PFF pass-blocking and run-blocking grades higher than 85.0, with the other being his teammate Jordan Mailata. Johnson's impressive performance saw him give up pressure on only 2.2% of pass plays during the 2024 regular season, ranking second among all offensive tackles and leading right tackles.
Despite being widely considered one of the best right tackles over the last decade, Johnson's age is starting to show, as he only appeared in 15 regular season games in 2024. Despite this, the Eagles enter the 2025 season with the best bookend tackles in the NFL, as per PFF's rankings.
According to PFF's 2025 preseason tackle rankings, the top offensive tackles are as follows:
- Jordan Mailata (Philadelphia Eagles)
- Tristan Wirfs (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
- Rashawn Slater (Los Angeles Chargers)
- Trent Williams (San Francisco 49ers)
These rankings reflect the individual performances of each player, with a focus on pass protection, run blocking, and overall impact on their respective offenses during the 2024 season. Mailata, Wirfs, Slater, and Williams consistently garner praise for their skills, making them the top offensive tackles in the league as the new season approaches.
