NFL player Jimmie Ward, a safety for the Texans, was taken into custody for a second time, with the latest arrest marking his second bust.
NFL safety Jimmie Ward was arrested again on August 8, 2025, for violating his bail conditions. This marks his second arrest in three months, but the latest incident is not related to new allegations.
Ward, a 34-year-old veteran player currently with the Houston Texans, was initially arrested in June for a third-degree felony charge of domestic violence. According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office report, his fiancée alleged that he had assaulted, choked, and threatened her. Ward was released on a $30,000 bond and remained on the Texans' physically unable to perform list for training camp.
In the latest arrest, Ward was found to have violated a condition of his bond by testing positive for alcohol. He was held in detention until Friday and spent a night in jail as a result of the judge's sanction.
Ward's attorney, Steve Jackson, stated that Ward was unaware that drinking alcohol was prohibited during his bond conditions. The upcoming case will go to a grand jury on August 31, 2025, and Jackson expressed confidence that Ward will be vindicated.
The Texans organization has declined to comment on the arrests but stated they are cooperating with the legal process and the NFL is aware and in contact with the team.
It is important to note that the original domestic violence charge from June 2025 is still under investigation, and no final NFL disciplinary action has been publicly announced yet. Ward's attorney also confirmed that Ward did not come into contact with the woman involved in the previous incidents since his release.
Last season, Ward played in 10 games, recording 48 tackles and two interceptions for the Texans. He joined the team in 2023 and was named a captain for two seasons.
