Detroit Lions safety Morice Norris suffered a serious head and neck injury during an NFL preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons on August 8, 2025. The incident occurred during the second half of the game in Atlanta.

Norris was attempting a tackle when he took a violent hit to his head and neck, causing axial compression of his cervical spine. The injury left him motionless on the field for about 20 minutes before medical personnel attended to him and transported him to a hospital for evaluation and observation.

The Lions-Falcons preseason game was suspended out of respect and concern for Norris’ condition. Norris was released from the hospital the following day and posted on social media: “Amen Amen. I’m all good man, don’t stress it, appreciate all the check-ins and love,” signaling a positive recovery trajectory.

As of August 19, 2025, Norris is stable, back with the team, and recovering well with ongoing medical oversight. The Lions organization continues to closely monitor his recovery process.
