NFL franchise value rankings see Pittsburgh Steelers experiencing a decrease in worth
The Pittsburgh Steelers have experienced a significant growth in their value, with a 17% increase to $6.51 billion according to Sportico's 2025 NFL franchise valuations. However, this growth wasn't enough to maintain their position in the top tier of the league, as the Steelers have dropped two spots to 17th place.
The Steelers' valuation increased by over $1 billion from the previous year, showing solid growth in their franchise worth. However, other franchises like the Dallas Cowboys ($12.8 billion with a 24% increase), Denver Broncos ($6.55 billion), and Kansas City Chiefs ($6.53 billion) experienced higher percentage increases or higher total valuations, pushing the Steelers down despite their own growth.
The overall average NFL franchise value is $7.13 billion, so while the Steelers are growing, several teams around them have outpaced that growth rate, causing the Steelers to fall in rank.
Despite the drop in ranking, the Steelers remain the most valuable team in the AFC North division, ahead of the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, and Cincinnati Bengals, all of which also saw increases but are ranked lower in value.
Interestingly, the most valuable teams from last year are unchanged in this year's ranking. The Los Angeles Rams, the New York Giants, the New England Patriots, and the San Francisco Giants round out the top five in this year's ranking. The Pittsburgh Steelers are ranked 17th, with the Dallas Cowboys holding the top spot at $12.8 billion.
In summary, the Steelers' drop in rank is due not to declining value but to other franchises increasing their valuations at a faster rate within the highly competitive NFL market. Despite this, the Steelers continue to hold a strong position, both within their division and in the overall league.
