NFL draft shocker: Jaguars climb to second pick for Travis Hunter in 2025 blockbuster trade deal

Hoo-boy, the Young Gun GM Makes a Splash!

In the kickoff of this year's NFL Draft, the league's new whiz-kid GM, James Gladstone, pulled off a daring move, snagging the No. 2 pick from the Browns for the Jaguars' No. 5 pick and some tasty extras. The rumor mill says this deal was all about Travis Hunter, a decked-out receiver/cornerback knocking on the door of superstardom.

With the Titans England-ing QB Cam Ward as their first pick, it looks like Gladstone threw down the gauntlet, channeling the spirit of his mentor, Les Snead. The Jags had been eyeballing defensive tackle Mason Graham, but it seems they've shifted gears, going for an offensive playmaker instead.

The Browns, once thought to be goo-goo-ga-ga over Hunter, apparently couldn't resist a juicy offer, even though most believe Hunter and edge rusher Abdul Carter are the only real "can't-miss" prospects in the draft.

This trade won't faze the Giants at No. 3, as the Jags' cornerback-laden squad already boasts Travon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen at pass-rusher, and Trevor Lawrence in the quarterback spot. Plus, with Hunter and Carter off the board, the Giants can focus on snagging their guy from the likes of Shedeur Sanders or Jaxson Dart.

Hunter's a triple-threat, too, with dreams of playing both ways in the NFL after racking up more than 700 snaps on offense and defense during his Heisman Trophy-winning season at Colorado. Browns GM Andrew Berry compared Hunter to MLB's phenom Shohei Ohtani, but it's hard to believe he wasn't swayed by the shiny trinkets dangled in front of him by Jacksonville.

The Browns could now be zeroing in on an offensive tackle, adding a wild card to the Jets' plans for their No. 7 pick. So, what do you think of this blockbuster trade, sports fans? Care to share your take?

Every team started the day with their own first-round pick, the first time that's happened since 1967. Let's watch how the madness unfolds!
