NFL announces Mohamed Sanu's retirement from professional football; future endeavors revealed
Mohamed Sanu Retires from NFL After 10-Year Career
Mohamed Sanu, a versatile wide receiver who spent a decade in the NFL, announced his retirement on September 19, 2025. Sanu, known for his underrated hands and effectiveness in the slot, finished his career with 4,871 yards, 435 receptions, and 27 touchdowns.
Sanu's NFL journey began when he was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. After four seasons with the Bengals, he signed with the Atlanta Falcons in 2016. His first year with the Falcons was a memorable one, as he recorded 59 receptions for 653 yards and four touchdowns, and helped the team reach the Super Bowl.
One of Sanu's most memorable moments came during the Falcons' game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he scored a touchdown to Julio Jones. Sanu continued to play with the Falcons for two more seasons before he was traded to the New England Patriots.
However, his usage on the field began to decrease after he played with the Detroit Lions and the San Francisco 49ers. In 2022, Sanu was released by the Miami Dolphins and did not see any more playing opportunities after that.
Sanu was able to take advantage of his matchups due to his size, and he even showed off his arm by completing seven of eight pass attempts during his career, with four touchdowns and no interceptions.
In retirement, Sanu has turned his attention to a new venture – a podcast. He shared that he can be found on the FactsOverStats Podcast, but it is not yet specified if he will have guest appearances often. There are currently no search results indicating where Sanu's future podcast can be found.
It is not clear what Sanu's plans are for his podcast, but it is sure to be interesting to see what he does next in his post-NFL career. Sanu's time in the NFL may be over, but his impact on the game will surely be felt for years to come.
