Graham Gano's 50-yard field goal with 6:32 remaining put the Giants up by four points, a crucial moment in the game. This field goal was set up by a questionable reception by Dante Pettis on a 3rd-&-16. Pettis, making just his second start for the Giants, went on to score the touchdown for the Giants' first points of the game.

The Giants' defense played a significant role in the win, with Leonard Williams recording three sacks. Williams' third sack, on the seven-yard-line, resulted in a loss of 10 yards and halted a potential Cowboys comeback with two minutes remaining.

The Cowboys responded with a one-yard touchdown by Ezekiel Elliott, narrowing the gap to four points. However, Wayne Gallman dropped the ball during the game-clinching play but managed to regain possession, ensuring the Giants' victory.

Daniel Jones completed 17-of-25 passes for 229 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in the game. Sterling Shepard had a standout performance, accounting for 112 yards and scoring a receiving and rushing touchdown. Shepard's third touchdown of the season came on a 23-yard rush off a reverse.

The game was not without its close calls, with Evan Engram dropping a pass, giving the Cowboys an opportunity to get back into the game in the second half. However, the Giants' defense held strong, culminating in Andy Dalton's interception in the end zone with less than a minute remaining, securing the win for the Giants.

Despite this victory, the 2020 season was disappointing for the Giants as they did not make the playoffs. This was the team's first season without a playoff appearance since 2016.
