Next Lawsuit Against 'Horizon' Maker - Next Lawsuit Against 'Horizon' Maker
Kevin Costner’s Horizon film series is facing serious financial and legal troubles. The first movie, Horizon: An American Saga, lost over $60 million at the box office, earning just $39 million against a reported $100 million budget. Now, multiple lawsuits have been filed against the actor and his production company over unpaid bills and contract disputes.
The legal battles began when Western Costume Company sued Costner and Territory Pictures for around $440,000. The lawsuit claims that some costumes were damaged and that rental fees went unpaid. This was followed by a second claim from Ajak Professional Wardrobe Inc. and Adrenaline Costume LLC, demanding $1.4 million in unpaid costume fees for the first film.
In May 2025, stuntwoman Devyn LaBella filed another lawsuit, accusing Costner of filming a non-consensual rape scene in Horizon 2. The controversy deepened when New Line Cinema also took legal action, alleging that Costner had breached a co-financing agreement for the series.
Despite these setbacks, Costner has personally invested at least $38 million into the planned four-film saga. However, the second film has now been shelved, leaving the future of the final two chapters uncertain.
The Horizon series is now entangled in financial losses and multiple lawsuits. With the second film on hold and legal disputes mounting, Costner’s efforts to complete the saga face significant obstacles. The outcome will depend on resolving these financial and legal challenges before production can move forward.
