Nexstar Media Gathers Close to $1.5 Million for Hurricane Aid Campaigns

Nexstar Media Group, a leading American media company, has launched a fundraising drive to support the victims of Hurricanes Helene and Milton in the southeastern United States. The drive, which began last week and is still ongoing, involves all 200 of Nexstar's owned or partner television stations, NewsNation, The CW Network, and WGN-AM in Chicago.

Across its local stations and television networks, Nexstar has so far helped raise more than $325,000 in contributions from viewers to the American Red Cross. Several Nexstar television stations are organizing telethons, food and water drives, and airing public service programming related to the hurricanes.

WJHL-TV, Nexstar's local television station in Tri-Cities, Tennessee, raised more than $700,000 in partnership with the local chapter of United Way. WIVB-TV in Buffalo, New York, held a telethon that generated more than $165,000 in donations to the American Red Cross.

Nexstar Media Group's chairman and CEO, Perry Sook, stated the company's commitment to helping communities affected by hurricanes. In addition to the fundraising drive, the Nexstar Media Charitable Foundation contributed $25,000 to the American Red Cross last week.

Donations will be given to charitable organizations like the American Red Cross, United Way, and the Salvation Army. The company has also not directly mentioned, but Walmart has already donated $165,000 for relief efforts related to Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.

As Hurricane Milton approaches the Florida coast, fundraising efforts will continue this week. The potential damage from Hurricane Milton could be more severe than Hurricane Helene. Nexstar Media Group remains dedicated to supporting the affected communities and encourages viewers, listeners, and users to donate to the relief efforts.
