Say hello to the fresh face gracing ARD's "Sportschau"—Alex Schlüter, a 40-year-old sports enthusiast who hails from Göttingen. Known for his passion and extensive experience in sports broadcasting, he's set to bring some excitement to this legendary show.

Before finding a home with ARD, Schlüter carved out a niche for himself in the world of sports journalism. He spent eight years with DAZN, where he played a pivotal role in their Champions League and Bundesliga coverage. His impressive stint there earned him a move to Amazon Prime, where he moderated UEFA Champions League broadcasts and Wimbledon tennis events. Notably, he took over the Champions League broadcasts from Sebastian Hellmann [1][2].

In a press release, Schlüter expressed his excitement about joining "Sportschau," a show he's admired since childhood. He acknowledged the show's rich history and expressed his eagerness to contribute to it. ARD's sports coordinator, Axel Balkausky, welcomed Schlüter, describing him as a "sympathetic, eloquent, and versatile host."

Meanwhile, Alexander Bommes, who's been a staple of "Sportschau," will be scaling back his appearances. Despite this move, he will still moderate some Bundesliga games. Bommes, who has been a part of "Sportschau" for 15 years, decided it was time to focus on other priorities after covering major handball tournaments and numerous other events. "After 15 wonderful and unique years, it was tough to decide to step back from daily sports coverage," Bommes said. "But it's time for me to move on and explore new horizons."

With Schlüter's expertise and Bommes' continued presence, it seems "Sportschau" is poised for an exciting season ahead.
