VfB Stuttgart has announced the permanent signing of Tiago Tomás from VfL Wolfsburg, in a deal worth €13 million upfront, with potential add-ons of up to €2 million, making the total potential transfer fee €15 million.

The Portuguese striker has signed a four-year contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2029. The transfer was finalised and announced in mid-August 2025, with Tomás completing his medical and contract signing around the weekend of August 15-16, 2025.

Tomás previously played for Stuttgart on loan between the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons before joining Wolfsburg permanently in 2023. Last season, he made 32 Bundesliga appearances for Wolfsburg, scoring 6 goals and providing 1 assist.

The move comes amid reports suggesting that Wolfsburg's new head coach did not favour Tomás, creating an opportunity for the player to return to Stuttgart, where he had previously expressed his emotional attachment.

Noted for his speed, strong dribbling, and excellent technique, Tomás is expected to fit well with Stuttgart’s playing style. His return is set to bolster the offensive options of the DFB Cup winners, who are still looking for reinforcements in attack.

With Tomás's familiarity with the club, he is expected to contribute immediately. The striker began his professional career at Sporting Lisbon before his loan to VfB Stuttgart, where he scored 5 goals in 16 appearances during the 2022/23 season. In total, he has scored 9 goals in 65 Bundesliga games for VfL Wolfsburg.

As the new season unfolds, fans of VfB Stuttgart eagerly await the impact that Tiago Tomás will make on the team.

The returning Tiago Tomás, who has signed a new four-year contract, will bolster Stuttgart's offensive options, serving as an immediate contribution to the team's employment policy and community policy as they aim for success in the new season. Acknowledged for his skills in sports, particularly in football, Tomás's return to his former club is reminiscent of his productive stint in the European leagues.
