Subtitle: A daily word game that challenges players to categorise words and solve connections
The popular word game 'Connections' from The New York Times, edited by Brooke Husic and puzzle editor Wyna Liu since 2020, continues to captivate players worldwide. Each day, a new puzzle is released at midnight local time, offering a fresh challenge that varies in difficulty.
In this game, players aim to organise 16 words into four sets of four by identifying the connections between them. The words for today's puzzles are: REFURBISH, DESK, STARBUCKS, ADAM; FURNISH (answers: EQUIP, OUTFIT, PREPARE, READY); INTO IT (answers: DOWN, EAGER, GAME, WILLING); ORGS WITH STARS IN THEIR LOGOS (answers: N.F.L., NASA, PARAMOUNT, SUBARU); and HOMOPHONES OF GENESIS FIGURES (answers: ABLE, CANE, EAVE, NOAA).
The game is accessible on the New York Times website or through the NYT Games app on iOS and Android devices. Similar to Wordle, Connections allows players to track their winning streaks and compare scores with friends.
Each group is colour-coded, with the yellow group being the easiest and the purple group being the hardest. Players have four mistakes before the game ends if they guess incorrectly.
Connections was launched one year ago, and Liu has shared her favourite puzzles on TikTok using the hashtags #nytgames #nytconnections #nyt. The game's popularity continues to grow, offering a daily dose of mental stimulation for word enthusiasts everywhere.
