Rufeger's extensive experience and dedication have been recognised, as he was previously associated with the Attendorn Police Station as a regular officer before being promoted to the position of deputy shift leader in 2019. His prior experience and familiarity with the station’s operations likely contributed to his advancement into the leadership role.

In 2024, Rufeger returned to the Olpe County Police Department as head of the command and control service. Now, he is back at the Attendorn Police Station, expressing his desire to be a reliable point of contact and support for his colleagues.
