In the heart of Skydive Arizona, Izzy's Wing camps are making waves in the skydiving community. Named in honour of the late Izzy Bucsko, a dedicated skydiver who passed away in 2023, these camps are a testament to his passion for safety and continuous improvement.
Izzy's Wing is a non-profit organization with a mission to raise the standard for canopy piloting safety and ensure that money never gets in the way. The camps are designed for jumpers who take their canopy skills seriously, hold at least a USPA A License, and value safety and precision in every flight.
Participants in Izzy's Wing camps bring their own gear, jump tickets, and a commitment to improve. In return, they are treated to top-tier instructors, travel, and coaching fees covered by the organization. The camps focus on skill building, community connection, and sharpening instincts under canopy.
A small refundable deposit is required to secure a spot in an Izzy's Wing camp, which is returned when the participant shows up to train. The camps offer a variety of key skills, including rear riser proficiency, input efficiency under pressure, traffic navigation at pattern entry, and confident landing decisions.
Morning briefings, drill-based jumps, classroom time, real-time performance feedback, and community and camaraderie are all part of a typical Izzy's Wing camp. Skydive Arizona, home to one of the country's premier swoop ponds and a culture built on safety and progression, serves as the perfect backdrop for these transformative experiences.
Izzy's Wing isn't just a coaching organization, but a movement that is shifting skydiving culture and keeping Izzy's legacy alive. The inaugural camp launched in October 2024, with elite coaches such as Stevie Simpson, Travis Mills, and Jason Sanders leading the way.
In addition to coaching, Izzy's Wing provides support for jumpers recovering from injury and supports families after accidents. As the organization expands nationwide, more dropzones are signing on and partnerships are being formed.
