Newborn discovered discarded in a refuse bin - Homicide Authority seek public assistance - Thousand-euro reward announced
In a chilling discovery made on April 5, 2013, in Neukölln, Berlin, a newborn baby girl was found in an old clothes container at the corner of Wildenbruchstraße and Hüttenroder Weg. The baby, who was later named 'Sara' by the detectives of the homicide department, was stillborn.
Extensive investigations have been conducted by the 8th Homicide Commission since the discovery, but the mother of the child and the circumstances of her death remain unknown. The Berlin Public Prosecutor's Office has offered a reward of up to 5,000 euros for information that leads to the clarification of the crime and the identification of the mother.
The reward is exclusively intended for private individuals and not for employees of the public service. Anyone who can provide other useful information is urged to contact the police. Tips can be given to the 8th Homicide Commission at the State Criminal Police Office in Berlin at the telephone number (030) 4664 - 911 888 or at any other police station.
Anyone who saw persons in the aforementioned period making a donation of old clothes or with a blue plastic bag is urged to provide information. Similarly, anyone who can provide information about the towel shown, in which the child was wrapped, is asked to come forward.
The 8th Homicide Commission is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the mother of the 'Wilderbruch Baby.' DNA analysis has not led to the identification of the mother, and any leads could potentially bring closure to this tragic case.
Two employees of a recycling company made the gruesome discovery, and they required outpatient treatment due to shock. The reward will be made without legal recourse.
The name of the donor who left the blue plastic bag with the stillborn child is not publicly known. Anyone who knows pregnant women who obviously gave birth before this period and did not have a child in their care afterwards is encouraged to contact the police.
Anyone who saw or noticed anything suspicious in the area of the old clothes container between March 27, 2013, and April 5, 2013, is asked to contact the police. For further information on this case, you can contact the Press Office and Contact at Platz der Luftbrücke 6 or Email to [email protected].
On May 16, 2013, 'Sara,' the 'Wilderbruch Baby,' was buried. The case remains open, and the public's help is crucial in solving it.
