Levi Shines as South Africa Chases Down New Zealand's Total

In a thrilling display of power-hitting, Richard Levi set a new record for the most sixes in a Twenty20 International (T20I) match, as South Africa chased down New Zealand's total with four overs to spare at Seddon Park, Hamilton.

Levi, who made his international T20 debut on Friday, smashed an unbeaten 117 runs off just 51 balls, hitting a staggering 13 sixes. This performance surpassed the previous record of 10 sixes, held by Chris Gayle.

Despite posting a competitive score of 173 for 4, New Zealand found themselves on the receiving end of Levi's onslaught. The South African team, led by Faf du Plessis, cruised to an eight-wicket victory, with Levi's blistering innings being the highlight.

New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum praised Levi's performance, calling it "unbelievable." McCullum admitted that on this day, they were "beaten to the punch" by Levi's exceptional display. He also acknowledged that his team's bowlers were unable to contain the South African opener.

The first match of the series was won by New Zealand, but Levi's record-breaking performance in the second match has turned the tide in South Africa's favour. The final match of the series will be played on Wednesday at Eden Park in Auckland.

Levi's score of 117 not out is also the fastest international T20 century, achieved off 45 balls. This record was previously shared by Brendon McCullum, who achieved his century in 50 balls.

Martin Guptill top-scored for New Zealand with 47 runs off 35 balls, but it was not enough to prevent Levi's onslaught. The South African team will be hoping to carry this momentum into the final match of the series and clinch the series victory.
