New York Film Festival set for a wave of excitement with 'Water Sports,' starring Elijah Canlas
In a heartwarming turn of events, the short film "Water Sports," directed by Whammy Alcazaren and produced by Alemberg Ang, has secured spots at six international film festivals beyond the New York Film Festival (NYFF).
The film, set in a world ravaged by climate change, follows the journey of Jelson and Ipe, two students deeply in love, as they prepare for survival. The teacher in the film believes that strength of heart and mind can overcome any challenge, while the characters discover that the truest way to endure the apocalypse is to live, laugh, and love.
Alemberg Ang, the producer of "Water Sports," expressed his gratitude towards SquareEyesFilm_ for securing these prestigious festival spots. He also shared his excitement about the film's acceptance into the NYFF, which is a significant milestone for any independent film.
Ang, who has been missing the presence of Ricky, presumably a significant person, during this celebration, reflected on the behind-the-scenes realities of filmmaking. Other international festivals where it will be showcased include the Minikino Film Week in Bali, Kyiv International Short Film Festival in Ukraine, Drama International Short Film Festival in Greece, BUT Film Festival in the Netherland, Binisaya Film Festival in Cebu, and Silhouette Festival in Paris.
