New York City Steals the Spotlight with 19 New Michelin-Starred Spots

New York City's culinary scene sizzles once again, as it unveils 19 new Michelin-starred restaurants. Among them, Al Coro and Saga, both debuting with impressive two-star ratings, promise mouth-watering dining experiences that are worth the journey.

At Al Coro, famed chef Melissa Rodriguez leads the charge, specializing in regional Italian cuisine and unique dishes that require a bit of licensure. The prices are premium, as they should be, with a seven-course menu priced at $245 per person and a five-course menu at $195 per person. But there's also an à-la-carte option. Al Coro took to Instagram, expressing "gratitude, shocked, and humbled" upon learning of their coveted two-star recognition.

Meanwhile, Saga, located on the 63rd floor of an iconic Art Deco building in Manhattan's Financial District, offers an enchanting seasonal tasting menu for $295 per person. Joining the ranks of other esteemed Michelin favorites, Saga's talented team, under the direction of chef James Kent, serves up innovative, urban-inspired dishes that are luxurious and oozing with seasonal flavors.

The total count of Michelin-starred restaurants for the 2022 New York Guide is 73, with a significant resurgence in New York's culinary scene. Gwendal Poullennec, the international director of Michelin Guides, commented, "New York's gastronomic landscape has definitely rebooted, grown, and is offering increasingly innovative dishes. Its commitment to tackling new challenges and achieving greater accomplishments is evident."

Out of the 73 restaurants recognized, five have kept their Three-Star prized status for providing "extraordinary cuisine and an experience worth treasuring." These include Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare, Eleven Madison Park, Le Bernardin, Masa, and Per Se.

In the 2022 Guide, the selection includes 5 three-star restaurants, 13 two-star eateries, and 55 one-star options, along with 125 establishments bearing the "Bib Gourmand" (Excellent Quality, Affordable Prices) designation. The list also highlights 267 recommended venues for a delightful dining experience.

Catering to various tastes, 17 additions to the one-star category include 63 Clinton on the Lower East Side, Clover Hill in Brooklyn Heights, and Dirt Candy with its vegetarian fare in the same area.
